Any easy ways to hit my Amex spending target?

Afternoon. I am wishing to hit the 10k spend target to trigger a companion voucher before the end of the year to ensure 18 month validity. What is the best way to do this? I tried billhop to HMRC but payment would not be taken until 5th January. Not really interested in tying up £800 in Amazon.. so likely plan is something refundable – hotels/flights etc. also, any negative consequences of this? TIA.

Do the refundable spend almost up to the threshold, then buy something small that you won’t refund to actually cross the threshold

Billhop – it goes from your Amex straight away (though bear in mind we are about to hit a run of bank holidays, so there will likely be something of a delay. It’s the recipient that only gets it after 5 working days. I assume that’s how long Billhop holds the funds for.

Thanks all, went with Billhop as NorthernLass suggested, charged immediately and voucher arrived in my account today with 18 month validity.
