Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Hilton Salah – from 5k points to 40k in a few years 😢

Gutted I didn’t get to spend some time at the Hilton Salalah while it was just 5k points, would have been able to do some scuba diving whilst enjoying a great hotel.
Loved getting to go scuba diving in the red sea whilst staying for just 5k a night (though those weren’t great hotels).
Those 5k red sea hotels have gone completely from the hotel portfolio (they weren’t really up to standard for Hilton’s to be fair) but if they were still there they’d probably be up around 30-40k with the Salalah by now anyhow !

Salalah 800% of the price in a few years…..
    Brutal.
    Anyhow, gripe over 😆
Guess I have to get used to 40k for Salalah or 20k (Hurghada red sea) if I want some good ‘low points’ scuba diving locations 😢

Anyone found any other ‘low points’ hotels near some good diving ?

I have recently booked 5 nights for next Easter in Le Meridien Dahab for 48k Marriott points. Quite good value as the rate per night was around £130.

30-40k points pn is cheap now, for Hilton. We paid 70k pn for a Hampton Inn in the Florida Keys over Xmas (still good value, especially on 544, as cash prices were $500 pn!) and after we booked it went up to 80k pn! I don’t know what the hotels get from Hilton for points bookings, or whether they’re trying to drive cash bookings by making points prices worse value. Not seen any great redemptions for this year, but there are a couple of new openings I’ve got my eye on which might be good redemptions when they first open.
