Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Hilton Price Guarantee – What a waste of time

  • 10 posts

Price of 5 nights on Small Leading Hotels, Expedia = £3200
Price of same hotel, same room, on Hilton.com = £4600

Price match turned down by Hilton, because the payment terms from SLH and Expedia are BETTER than Hilton! SLH and Expedia are pay at hotel, Hilton is pay 50% now (non refundable) and remainder 7 days before arrival.

    You couldn’t make this up.

Terms seem pretty clear to me. Remember, it’s a marketing gimmick

So is there not an even more expensive pay at hotel Hilton price? Would be strange if there wasn’t a fully flexible rate.

Hilton.com had one rate only… probably because it was an SLH.
I persevered on this, called Hilton instead of doing the price match form, and they said they wouldn’t price match an SLH as “they are part of us and we run their website”. I asked if I could still get my HHonors benefits if I book via SLH and the agent said of course – which I believe is false, as SLH has their own loyalty scheme.

Some recent reports suggest SLH hotel owners are unhappy with Hilton members. They see the Hilton members as freeloaders for breakfast and upgrades. Clearly a mismatch in expectations between SLH management and the hotel owners.
Some have even gone to the extent of asking Hilton members to sit at substandard tables for breakfast while they reserve the best ones for paying customers.
Just book direct where possible for the best service.

Yes, I’d avoid SLH now as a Diamond. I guess that’s what they want !!
