Hi. I have Hilton Gold status and travelling to NYC in March. If I book via a 3rd party site such as hotels.com, will I still receive the gold member free breakfast benefit or do you have to book direct with Hilton to get that benefit ?

You need to book direct although sometimes you can get lucky if you manage to enter your Hilton number on the booking.

However you no longer get free breakfast in the States. You now get a food and beverage credit which is unlikely to cover breakfast entirely.

IME the reception you get in the US when you book via a 3rd party borders on verbal abuse! Due to the breakfast devaluation I only now book Homewood Suites & Hampton Inns if using US Hilton as they include breakfast in any case.
But in NYC you’ll get a cheaper breakfast outside, so factor that in when booking.
The Hilton UN Millennium used to give gold members lounge access so they could have breakfast in there – it was a very decent spread in a great setting on about the 40th floor!
