Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Hilton Garden Inn La Villette // Paris

Few months ago, I made a booking at HGI La Villette Paris for the May half term. The hotel was supposed to open in early May.
Flyertalk says now that the hotel will open in late July. I made another booking just in case at another Hilton. And I still haven’t heard anything from Hilton for the La Villette hotel.

My question is this. Most likely Hilton will cancel this booking in the coming weeks. Do I have any chance for any compensation? After all my safety hotel is a bit more expensive.

As this is Paris, it is likely you will be offered another Hilton as an altnernative. As you have a back-up lined up you can afford to play hardball over what you get.

I had a similar issue in the US over Easter with Hyatt where there were no alternative hotels – I got 7,500 Hyatt points off them (on a 27,000 point redemption). I ended up at the Newport Marriott which we reviewed today.

When Kimpton Mallorca failed to open last year I got a free night voucher off them plus a full refund.

Think about what works best. If you’re in Paris often, a 1 year free night voucher for that hotel and a refund might be possible.

Friends who work at Hilton didn’t really rate the Trocadero.
For me, it’s also a question of location; not really keen on staying in that part of town.

Interesting, thank you. Is the Trocadero not considered a good area?
