It’s the same every time. Demand massively outstrips supply and there’s not much HfP can do about that and keep it manageable 🤷🏻♂️
How about a zoom or virtual ticket event to run in parallel? Would be nice to be able to enter the prize draw from afar

Just had our own points party at Hilton Dubrovnik Exec Lounge with a Polish couple with all top hotel stati, an American couple with that and AA top tier and us! Great fun comparing upgrades and redemptions!

Sounds like ripe opportunity to inter-marry between you all and cross-pollinate those statuses.

But that would just be a gesture to allow greater entries to the raffle. And what benefit are such entrants to the sponsors paying for the prizes? With the 500 in attendance, the sponsors get an intensive test bed opportunity to question the hardcore on what they value in travel, why do they think/not think of their brand, etc.
There will be a waiting list tomorrow so anyone who fails to get one can register interest. We may release a few more later if we need fewer than expected for airline and hotel staff.
What we WON’T do is one-off refunds via the waiting list for people who can no longer come. If you can’t make it, potentially use this thread to trade with another reader at cost price.

If you’re not already in London then arranging accomodation and travel is rather stickier than it was pre-covid – I never even used to bother booking anything till a week or two before but impossible to operate like that now.
On the other hand the party will be full anyway.

Then the hotel realises you have the money and increases its quote. Then you renegotiate with the hotel. Then you try to get some money off other people. Then you agree the hotel deal. Then you announce the date.
The process above took 3 months.

After hearing of the Paypal issues yesterday, I went for Apple Pay. Having attended and enjoyed the informal Liverpool gathering a fortnight ago, I may resuscitate my thread on a Manchester meet-up. I set it up then over-booked myself travel-wise till the end of 2022 and hadn’t got a free weekend.

I think there may have been a site issue as I had that same issue with having to join the waitlist, but after a few refreshes of the browser some more tickets were available and I managed to get one at 12:04
I paid by card rather than PayPal as I think the issue may be down to PayPalGot some. Pleased! I was amazed how that worked out this time. Yesterday seemed impossible and I held zero hope.
@ClubSmed +1 I have also just been able to get 1 ticket at 12:08 having refreshed about 30 times and received the “join waitling list” message every time until then.
