Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help Have searched – cant find- simple step by step process booking return avios

I’ve searched the site and the forums and I can’t find a clear answer to what I believe is a fundamental simple question – sorry if I’ve missed it!?

Booking return flights 355 days in advance and return leg is >355 days in advance??!?

I’d love to see a step by step guide..

My current understanding from what I’ve read is…

355 days in advance I book the outward journey as a one way…

Then when the return leg is released 355 days in advance I need to phone a number (not 100% certain which one as there seems to be millions!) At exactly 1 minute past midnight for busy routes… and ask them to amend

This could be right but it just seems ludicrous in this day and age… surely the return leg can be booked online and added to/amended to the exiting one wayboutbound journey no?

Really appreciate your help… I’ve been on headforpoints and 2 or 3 other sites and no one explains it clearly… should be an FAQ or pinned topic

And yet I can’t find one after 25minutes searching..

    “Booking return companion”
    “Booking return”
    “Companion voucher”
    “Companion voucher return 355″
    Companion 355”

Trawling through endless specifics about people who’s fathers are ill, or stuck in doha or flying out in two weeks or no availability in July…

Can’t understand why it’s not an FAQ

Here is the answer people like me need i believe..

You book the outbound but yes you have to phone to add the return leg

This seems ridiculous especially having to get up at midnight and phone a number to BA/exec club that no one ever answers

    Very frustrating

You don’t have to get up at midnight, you don’t have to phone to book the return. It can all be done online in a single transaction at your leisure.
The reason for the phoning at midnight shenanigans is when you opt to book the outward leg as soon as availability is released for that leg, and you then must have the return leg for a specific date, so phoning at midnight enables you to nab the limited reward seats before anyone else.

If you’re flexible about your destination and dates then the process is much more straightforward.
