A friend tried to take the Elizabeth line to Heathrow yesterday (Friday) but there were delays, so he switched to Picadilly line and more problems meant by the time he got to the airport he missed his flight. He has to pay £600 more to get to Sydney, now on Monday.
He’s gathered evidence of transport problems from X (Twitter) to send to his insurance company to try and get the £600 back.
Does anyone else have experience of this and what was the outcome?
Must have been quite the delays. Or not enough time before departure? With the M25 sitting between me and LHR, I always plan to arrive T-3h for long haul.
But no idea about your actual question.
@Philondon – whether your friend can make a successful claim will depend on the terms of the policy they have and whether they allowed sufficient time to get to the airport, considering Tube delays are not particularly unusual. It’s a subjective decision for the insurer but if the delay was say 30 minutes, I doubt the claim would be successful, whereas if it were two hours it would be.
