It’s been a couple of months since I’ve stayed at a Doubletree but was told at reception during a recent stay that the drinks vouchers have been stopped and Doubletree’s no longer issue these for Diamond members.
I always ask regardless as some do them, some don’t.
Even a simple acknowledgment of my Hilton status on check-in seems to be a stretch these days!
Way too many Diamonds??
I’m gold but sometimes get them, most recently at the DT NCL over Easter weekend. Which property were you staying at?
Most recent at the Ricoh Coventry.
From previous Doubletree stays, I’ve found the Glasgow Westerwood, Sheffield Park and Chester to be generous with these in the past (either drinks or appetiser vouchers).
I guess it’s just hit and miss.
Just seems a rather petty cost cutting measure.
Really, which one as I have been receiving them all year. I know Dunblane Hydro refuses to take part in offering them.
See you’ve answered. Westerwood has dropped from 2 house drinks to one per person per stay since last year.
The Edinburgh Queensferry has also never given me any but I’ve frequently had decent room upgrades from them so that’s made up for it.
As I said, any Doubletrees where I’ve never previously stayed at I ask because I just don’t know what the rules are.
I can’t remember which one (either Nottingham or Sheffield Park), handed out drinks vouchers on top of the room service charge being waived for gold/diamond
Hang on, I’ve never had one at any Doubletree and I definitely stayed at that one in Sheffield (mind you, it was such a poor experience that they agreed to refund my stay without question).
Actually, I’m not even sure what welcome benefits are available with Hilton properties. Been happy with brekkie and lounge (where available). Think I’ve always had some kind of upgrade. So I guess missing a free drink is just me being a massive FOMO.
Drinks vouchers aren’t a listed benefit in the UK, some do provide them and still do, as to some other Hilton Brands like the Gantry in Stratford. I always get them at the DT Excel too. F&B Credit is USA only.
Some DT’s that had a lounge previously but don’t operate it now post covid (DT Kensington or Olympia from memory earlier this year) give you bar drinks vouchers instead.
Either way, if you don’t get one you’re not due one if you check your Diamond Benefits.
I probably should keep this to myself, but on both of our 2-night stays at the DT NCL we’ve had 2 vouchers per night of the stay! It’s an absolute bargain of a hotel at often well under £100 pn.
Never had then at DT MAN (no surprise there), didn’t get any at Harrogate, or West End, got a single one at Chester IIRC.
Same with the Glasgow Westerwood. 2 per night/room!
I don’t know why but I’ve got them at Harrogate last month.
I found Manchester Piccadilly DT very generous last month, 3 voucher between 2 ppl, and very friendly and helpful staff. Also HGI Glasgow never a problem getting a couple. But agree it’s an unexpected bonus.
I forgot about Piccadilly, we did get 2 but someone managed to charged a drink to our room bill which I then had to chase the hotel to sort out! But apart from that, great value.
Doubletree NSDM in Amsterdam always used to give one or two depending on how many in the room. Last week they didn’t offer any and they said they’d stopped giving them out.
Looking at the hotels I’ve reviewed on my blog, I see I got drinks vouchers at DT Southampton, DT Greenwich, DT ExCel, Hilton Gatwick, DT Woking, and DT Heathrow (Bath Road).
I did, however, not receive drinks vouchers at DT London Hyde Park, DT London West End, DT Bristol City Centre, and Frankfurt Niederrad.
It seems to be pretty random.
My blog is here
I can confirm that drinks vouchers are still available at DoubleTree in Woking. They just gave me one. However, I’m too lazy to go back down to the bar…
It depends on how crappy the hotel management is probably. The one at Milton Keynes said they no longer do them when I asked at check in last year.
Funny that a different staff member had given me 2 of them an hour earlier because the room wasnt going to be ready for 3pm tho.

Those are for different things though
