I was gifted gold in January this year by a kind person on the site (was silver). I’ve only stayed 6 nights on 4 stays this year but today received an email stating “you’ve been upgraded to gold status….”
I assume this is an automated error and my gifted gold is due to expire in January next year?
I believe everyone’s status is renewed until March 2023 anyway
Thanks John. Is there any way you can your status validity date?
Not really. Your status is always valid to March of the next year, and if you renew during a year it’s valid to March in 2 years.
Hilton announced that everyone will be renewed at their current status (I suppose as of 31 Dec 2021) and I see no exclusions for gifted status
If you get Hilton Gold status from an Amex Platinum card do you get the nights and stays added to your Hilton account making the jump to Diamond easier? Or is it just a status award thing and you’d still need to clock up a full set of stays or nights. Amex Bonvoy credits you with 15 elite nights.

Sadly you just get the status bump rather than the nights/stays associated with the status.
