Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Getting to T5 from Hilton T4

  • 34 posts

    Hi,

Hope this is the right forum and someone can help. We are staying overnight at the Hilton T4 and are flying with BA from T5. What is the best way to get to T5, we need to get there for 9:00am. Is the airport bus still running and how long does this now take or is it easier to get a taxi/uber and what is the typical cost?

    Many thanks

Take the 482 or 490 bus from Sheffield Way (just outside the Premier Inn adjacent to Hilton). It takes about 20 mins and seems to run pretty much to the timetable. You can walk back into the terminal and pick up those buses from there if you prefer.

H30 takes around 15 minutes. it’s free and no need to change.

Stop is near the terminal entry /exit closest to the tube – if you use the walk way to the terminal it’s the one right at the far end of the terminal.

They run every 20 minutes from stop 11 at 08/28/48 minutes past the hour,

Thanks so to take the h30 we need to go into t4 from the Hilton t4 and look for stop 11 near to the entrance of t4?

Yes. You need to be on level 0 – arrivals

From the terminal doors you cross the first zebra crossing and then turn right before the next crossing and it’s just there.

It’s a normal TFL bus stop but it’s not listed on the top sign but it is on the board showing timetables.

+1 for H30. It’s never been busy when I’ve used it (including last week to get to T5 for around the same time as you), so no issues with luggage – it’s got dedicated luggage racks.
Some of the tfl buses can be really busy and getting on with large cases can sometimes be an issue.

Another +1 for the H30 , the public buses are very busy at peak shift change times and not ideal with bags

If you get the 482/490 TfL bus from Sheffield Way it is pretty obvious which way it is going. If you get it from T4 just make sure you get on the one going TOWARDS T5 – they are the same bus number going the other way and go from the same stop – so don’t get on one that says Pools on the Park (490) or Southall (482). Ask me how I know!

If you have big bags then the Elizabeth line, changing at T2/3 for T5 is relatively easy, but research the timetable as they are not as frequent as the buses.

Oh, and if you are not familiar with TfL buses, you tap on but no need to tap off. Use any card/phone and it’s a flat rate – currently £1.75 I think. Tube is free but you need to pick up a free ticket.

No, you have to use card/device to tap in and out on the tube. Train (Liz line) has the option to print a free paper ticket as well as using card/device.

Thanks we have 4 large suitcases and hand luggage (we don’t travel light!!) the H30 looks a good option, thanks to everyone for taking time to share advice, it’s really helpful and much appreciated

Someone mentioned the Elizabeth line , is this free and quicker/better option for a family of 4 than the H30 bus?

Alternatively we did book a transfer previously on the hotel e shuttle but the Hilton t4 isn’t showing up on the hotel list, so does this only go to hotels on bath road? https://www.weknowlondon.com/transport/hotel-e-shuttle#sec_moreinfo

Lizzie Line if free but it also requires a change at T2/3 (as does the tube).

There are only 4 trains an hour from T4–T3 and 6 tubes which both then need a platform transfer to T5.

Whilst the platform change is all flat it does mean lugging your bags on and off an extra time each.

Also check if there are any planned engineering works on the Lizzie Line, especially on weekends. It once took me almost an hour just to get from T5 to T4 as I didn’t realise there was a reduced timetable that day

Kids 11 and under don’t pay on London buses if accompanied by an adult incase that helps…

I think bus will be easier than two trains…
