I know nothing about Flying Blue! Is this worth doing? Would it give status on Virgin?

Your FB status would apply on Virgin like BA would on AA though the benefits aren’t as harmonised between airlines as oneworld.

Thank you! My bedtime reading for today lol.
We were re-routed LYS-CDG-MAN on AF last summer and I was very impressed with their business class offering.
They want £99 to match to their Gold status (from BA Silver). Not sure it’s worth it given I have SAS Gold (and don’t have any SkyTeam flights booked any time soon!)
I’m confused if I should do this with my BA gold. I’ve already done a match to SAS, as well as ITA, both recommended on this site. I’ve lost track of which of these was technically meant to lead to a full Skyteam status. I have Velar Executive with ITA and the membership card says ‘Skyteam elite plus’. My SAS membership is ‘gold’. Both seem to give lounge access, so will both of these already give full lounge access and other perks such as increased luagge allowance across Skyteam apart from Virgin Atlantic?
When a good status match opportunity comes up I tend to do it as that subsequent status has proven to be useful for other match opportunities. However in this case, I may already technically have the Skyteam tier with lounge access. I don’t have any Skyteam flights booked either.
Hmm, the fact that these status matches aren’t eligible for soft landings will probably swing it for me as I wouldn’t get a huge amount of value out of it this year.

When does your Volare Executive status expire? If you have it for this year then there’s no need to do the FB match from BAEC, unless you want to match to Platinum from BA Gold for slightly better benefits when travelling AF/KL (for other ST airlines it makes no difference as both FB Gold and FB Platinum are STE+).
BTW, did you know that Volare Executive can gift Premium to someone else?
I’ve seen that this status match wouldn’t get a soft landing. My nearly expired Gold card would be matched to Platinum, but there’s no way I would make 300XP to retain it, but I might make 180XP which would be enough to retain Gold. Would I lose status completely if I only made 180XP, or would I be downgraded to Gold? Should I request a match just to Gold?
Thanks
