We have an Edinburgh to KL flight via Doha with Qatar.
This is a rebooking as our previous BA from Edinburgh to LHR then on to KL was cancelled.
We have an overnight in KL then we’re on Cathay Pacific KL to Christchurch via HongKong.
We’re at check in in Edinburgh now and being told we’re on standby for Doha to KL. Thats news to us.
What happens if we get rebooked and land after the Cathay Pacific flight has left?
What should we do?
What does Qatar have to do?
Advice appreciated.
Standby as in it’s overbooked?
If this is all on one PNR, you’ll be entitled to full EU/UK261 rights in terms of delays/denied boarding/re-routing (loads on info in that section on here).
If not, QR will still get you to KL, though you may have less recourse for things like compensation.
If your Cathay flight is on a separate booking then you’d need to claim on your travel insurance for whatever they would cover.
Also, for denied boarding, etc.
Not one booking sadly.
We were unable to check in online and the check in desk person said they were oversold by 7 seats, but the “manager” we spoke to afterwards said it doesn’t really mean standby, they just can’t give us a boarding card in Edinburgh due to a change of plane and we should pick it up in Doha.
There is one flight that leaves Doha after ours that would allow us to make the Cathay Pacific flight so fingers crossed we at least get that.
Thanks for your help.
