Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help Flight cancelled – re- routed

  • 1 post

I was booked on a direct flight to Buenos Aires with BBA. They have recently cancelled that flight and put me on another flight via Rio de Janeiro.
My problem is that I am unable to have a yellow fever vaccination and therefore I am concerned that being in transit in/through Rio will count as me having entered Brazil and as I understand it if I do that I need to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Argentina from Brazil.
So far, I cannot find an answer to the status of transit passengers en route to Argentina via Brazil.

The only “risk” would be if you were to then, say, travel to SEAsia, where some countries
    request a yellow fever certificate.

BA has historically and then again recently flown to Buenos Aires via Brazil. A yellow fever certificate is not an issue as you don’t get off the aircraft. However, as BA has cancelled the non-stop, you may wish to consider whether you want to accept their rerouting on the one stop flight via Rio on a rattly old 777 or if you might prefer to go with IB, which obviously does require a plane change in Madrid, but is ultimately a far more agreeable journey.
