In hoping for the best while planning for the worse, I am learning a little about EU261. Not that I think airlines will make it easy, but does anyone know if I can insist on being re-routed even if this involves 2 flights, that is one stop to change planes? Being a little more specific, what if this would involved 2 unconnected airlines? Skyscanner would be great for showing these options but could I insist on it? Thanks for any advice.
I think you’re asking, for example, if BA cancels a flight from LHR to MIA, would you be within your rights to re-route LHR-MAD-MIA? Legally, yes you can, however if the original airline refused to do this you’d need to exhaust your options with them before making your own arrangements and be prepared to provide evidence that this option was more compliant with EU261 than the airline was being!
