Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy Elite night credits – based on check in date or checkout?

  • 12 posts

Hi I am close to renewing platinum and have a stay 27th December to 3rd Jan. How many elite nights will count in 2023? Is it 27, 28, 29, 30, 31st I.e. based on check in date? Or is it 1 less based on check out date?

It’s based on check in date, so this should be 5.

Last year I’m sure I got it proportioned between the nights last calendar year and those starting 1 Jan

Yes, you’ll have 5 nights counting for 2023 and the rest going to 2024.

Got it thanks all. Got 45 stays so far so these 5 will get me to the magic 50!

Just to confirm, I just did a one night stay in the new St Regis, near Tangier in Morocco, checking in on the 31st of Dec and out on the 1st of Jan, and the stay credited as the 31st, so counted to 2023’s total, not 2024.

    That’s exactly what you’d expect.

Yep – exactly! I just want to add it as a data point in case someone needs it next year. I was close to a threshold so needed to search to confirm a few weeks ago

I stayed the previous year (so Dec 2022) in the Royalton St Lucia on a 5 night redemption over new years… all 5 nights credited to the new year. I stayed on a 10 night redemption in Dec 2023 over new years in the St Regis, Doha (not recommended at all!) and nights were split… 2 nights in 2024 and 8 in 2023. So I guess it depends on the hotel and what errors they make in submitting the nights!
