Forums Other London life Eating in vicinity to IC Park Lane, London

  • 124 posts

Off to Intercontinental Park Lane by LNER from EDB shortly with Mrs P for a few days. I am looking for eating options in the vicinity that won’t break the bank (I do understand it is central London!). Enjoy a curry, North African/Middle Eastern foods, but all cuisines considered and fish and chips in a pub won’t go wrong either.
    TIA.

Edgware Road has a lot of ethnic food, which is just north of Marble Arch — usually Middle Eastern.

I haven’t found any pub in IC or Piccadilly area that I enjoyed.

North Kensington has some touristy, quick but ordinary places. Wholefoods has good selection of buffet food.

And in Mayfair, I’ve heard nice things about the Audley, but haven’t tried it myself yet.

We stayed in January and on the first night had good tapas at El Pirata of Mayfair (great name, I can certainly envisage a few of those 😂). The set menu was very good value.

We were hankering after ME food after our DXB/DOH trip the previous month, and someone recommended a place called (IIRC) Bushra, about 15-20 mins walk past Harrods and down that way. Fairly casual and seemed very popular with locals. Again, huge portions for reasonable prices. I asked if I could take the labneh away, and they not only put it in a pot but gave a us a bag of flat breads to go with it.

Depends how you define ‘vicinity’ of course, but the parks and upscale skew to the area makes it a slightly tricky brief. Keeping it to a short walk, have a look at Noble Rot.

The Sofra Mayfair has good Turkish food, is quite lively and much more reasonably priced than many restaurants around.

If you want a cosy and authentic pub dining experience, try The Grenadier on Wilton Row which is less than a 10 minute walk from the IC and nicely tucked away. It’s pretty small and used to be an officers’ mess. The Beef Wellington is to die for! Booking in advance advised.

The nearby Sheraton has a lobby lounge that does breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. Nothing too heavy or complicated. I’ve gone a few times as a non-guest at the end of a Christmas shopping day.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I will have a look at all the suggestions.

The restaurant at the front of the Sheraton is decent too. On the recent dine-with-Marriott Amex offer.

If you don’t have breakfast with your IC room, from the IC, walk past the Sheraton and a few meters down there’s a lovely patisserie. Grab your croissants and make a crumbly mess in your room 🙂

In that part of town, I tend to head to Shepherd’s Market. Great atmosphere and a variety of restaurants to meet every taste. Misto is a decent Italian, for example.

Oh, and if “shortly” is this week it’s the last ever week of Galvina at Windows — closes on 25 April

That’s Galvins and Trader Vic’s gone. Shame.

In Shelherds Market I can recommend Iran restaurant for good Persian food. https://www.iranrestaurant.co.uk/
There is a pub in the street next to the IC. Or head to Chinatown. I can recommend the Four Season’s Gerard St – excellent roast meats but you would be best to reserve a table.

Trader Vic’s gone? That’s sad. It was pretty much the only exotic restaurant we were ever taken to as kiddies (for special occasions). Good memories.

The new branch at the Hilton Dubai Palm (not the Hilton Dubai JBR; that’s not new) is a retro treat but in very nice modern surroundings.

Agree with that BWS also Hilton Doha in west bay has a really good version.

Just wanted to send an update on our IC Park Lane trip and thanks for restaurant/pub recommendations to those readers/posters listed above.
We went to Iran and managed to get a table at Misto (both in Shepherds Market) which is very small but the food very good.
The ICPL looked after us well, a double upgrade on night one and single upgrade on nights two and three (CC free night and Amb nights added together). Got a lovely view of the smokers hanging out of their windows/balcony doors in the Four Seasons opposite. No wonder no smoking rooms suspiciously reek sometimes….. Looked after well with Diamond status at breakfast when we were allowed one item from the menu as well as the buffet. On the last day they told us that the lobster was not available that day due to the supplier. Oh the shock!
    We’d go back.

No lobster rarebit, horrors! The crab cake with poached egg is a very palatable alternative though, with a side of smoked salmon and some cheese from the buffet. All of which (apart from the egg) make my OH turn a bit pale!

That interesting. We regularly dined at Ozer’s in Langham Place/Regent Street and loved the food, wine and atmosphere. I assume this is part of the Group so will definitely give it a try when next in London.

Mercato Mayfair if you want something casual with plenty of variety. Stunning building. Good choice of traders, and nice bars. Nice vibe, though can get v busy at the weekend
