I’ve been doing some research but I need some help please.
Flying easyJet from LGW to AYT. Flight still on the ground, was scheduled to leave 3+ hours ago. Am I eligible for any compensation? I understand EU261 only helps if EU based airline and/or EU starting/ending. Is that true?
Thank you
It was replaced by Uk261 so potentially you’ll still be eligible. What is the reason for the delay?
UK airlines are subject to UK/EC261 as well, however in the present environment it is highly likely EasyJet will cite ‘exceptional circumstances’ to deny your claim so don’t count on getting it!
You should make the claim anyway and if they do cite exceptionality, ask them to prove it as the onus is on the airline. If they can’t / won’t, take it from there and ask here again.
The flight was delayed initially because they had a problem loading the bags onto the plane. This caused us to miss our slot for take-off so we had to wait for next available.
Is the claim based on delay on take-off or arrival?
