We never fly EasyJet so aren’t very familiar with the regulations.
Our flight from Dalaman to LGW time has been changed. I think I’m correct that if BA did this, I would be able to cancel the flight totally as they made the change?
I really want to cancel the whole return trip as I’d rather go with BA and wondered if this is a way I can do it as they usually don’t allow cancellations? Is anyone able to give me advice please?
Did the flight number change? If yes, then no problem, full refund, it’s a cancellation
If no – then you need the flight time change to be more than 5hrs before Easyjet will refund you
(for the record, BA changed their policy on this quite recently and they now need 4+ hours, so Easyjet isn’t much worse on this point!)
Thank you SamG for your reply. That is really helpful.
@Dawn – it’s worth contacting easyJet via their online form (I needed something amending the other day and it was done in 12 hours – something to remember if you decide to go with BA!) and asking what your options are with this. They can only say no. Alternatively, you should be able to move your flights to another date and destination (which may incur a fee for price difference, but not always, so try a few different options). I think this option is available until 31/3. I’ve moved quite a lot of things around (there’s a “change this flight” option in the booking) for various reasons, easyJet is making everything so much simpler than BA just now!
Easyjet has gone through some phases when they consolidated, say, 3 flights that there were on the same day to a particular destination, down to just the 1 flight.
So this means they’ve cancelled every flight on a day except 1.
Beware Easyjet has been claiming they just rescheduled your flight when they’ve done this. They are insisting it’s a time change not a cancellation. Basically, they’ve put you on a different flight, which will naturally have a different flight number. So you have full cancellation rights under EU261.
So beware and check if Easyjet claims your flight has been “rescheduled”. Notably Easyjet began, very oddly, to completely omit the flight number on early emails they sent out notifying this type of “rescbeduling”. Not sure if they’ve continued that or not as they stopped sending me emails even about things they admitted were cancellations quite some time ago when they basically stopped flying most routes for a few months.
