Earning timeframe when switching existing card to Avios Plus

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody knows, if I upgrade one of my regular Platinum cards to Avios Plus, does the upgrade take effect immediately and I can use my old card to earn avios, or does it only start working when receiving the new card a few days after the statement day? The info box doesn’t state that clearly, IMO. Asked on Barclaycard app chat, and just got some marketing drivel back after 12+ hours.

Having gone through the process, everything seemed to indicate to me that the change would only happen on/after your statement day. Not sure if it was entirely clear what happens in the few days between statement day and the new card arriving.

How many platinum cards do you hold?
Im still waiting for P2 upgrade to show up and siblings do not have any upgrade offers either

Yes, I finally got confirmed that the upgrade wouldn’t be processed until the statement day. But once it happened, one could use the card details from the app to make online transactions from day 1, no need to wait for the card to arrive for that. While the answer to my question about moving the statement date to an earlier day was a little bit confusing, my final interpretation was that it can be moved, but would only be moved after the current set date has passed, so not possible to bring current date closer.

I have two cards: one “travel” (no fx fee) card, and a regular one (started out as a balance transfer card). I have the upgrade offer to avios plus/free on both cards.
