Earn points from Food & Beverage without a stay

Just used this as a trial to save points expiring – bought one coffee at the Sheraton Picadilly (yes I know would be pricy), and 49 points credited to my account within a couple of hours! I know would have been cheaper to just buy 1000 points but at least I know it works.
So far only Visa can do this in uk.
Earn automatically 5 Marriott Bonvoy points per 1 US Dollar spent at participating hotels and resorts on dining, spa treatments and golf. Even without staying at the hotel.

Good to know that it does work for a cup of coffee, though, not just when “dining”. I had assumed that this would be the case, but confirmation is better.

Thanks — I am trying to stop some Bonvoy points from expiring so I linked a credit card and will stop into one of Marriott’s London hotels. I hope it works.

Data point I purchased food at a Marriott with an AMEX and the points appeared less than 48 hours later.
