I’m also close to making a mortgage application so this is very worrying to read, as I am on the verge of downgrading after hitting the voucher. Are you absolutely sure that these were hard (not soft) searches, and that these were made by Barclaycard just for downgrading from the plus card to the free card?

Thank you in advance.That being so, I would strongly recommend you sit tight and stomach a couple of months of £20 charges rather than risk a mortgage application based on what may, or many not, be a correct answer on an internet forum full of random people.
I would get the mortgage sorted first, then worry about the rest.
I downgraded recently (about a month ago) and haven’t seen any searches on any of the credit referencing agencies, but I guess they could still show up.
General rule of thumb is to not make any credit applications in the 6 months leading up to your mortgage application and completion date.

Thank you in advance.100% sure. Checked from Clearscore which details obtained from Equifax. Two hard search from “Barclaycard” and again from “Barclaycard CPU link”. I have no other application with Barclaycard other than the card downgrade.
Meanwhile TransUnion did not know about these hard searches on my report.
So I suspect Barclaycard do hard searches on Equifax only?
