Downgrading card

I currently hold the fee paying BAEC AMEX, it’s up for renewal in June. If I downgrade it to the free card, will this affect my CVs? I have two flight bookings tied up in two CVs with one of the bookings being for next year and I may need to cancel that nearer the time. If I hold the non-fee paying card at that point, would the expiry date on the voucher be different to what it was when I earned it?
Any vouchers already earned and in your account (or redeemed) will not be affected by downgrading. There have been reports that Amex won’t let you downgrade any more and you’ll have to re-apply for the free card.
I am considering downgrading too. If I have to reapply for a new card would that affect my CV’s banked already.

No
Downgrade was refused (“computer says no”) with no explanation but they are happy for me to keep the paid card, and try again in three months. Since the voucher needs the fees to be paid on the BA card, this seems a sneaky was once you’ve earned a voucher valid for 2 years, you need to pay up to £500 in fees to keep it?!
@Fraser, you need to read more widely on this forum, you DON’T need to pay with the BAPP, just any Amex!
Perhaps that works in practice but the T&Cs still say you need to use the BA Amex, so effectively the voucher costs £250 for the first year to earn it, then £250 per year for the right to use it. Or you can just risk that another Amex could be used, and risk losing the voucher entirely.
Once in your BAEC all it knows when booking is that you are paying with an Amex card. I just used one of mine paying with Player 2’s Pers Plat.
@Fraser – take it from all of us who have been doing this for years (including the people who run this site), or carry on paying the fee, it’s up to you!
Related but different card !!
If someone takes out the Platinum card (£50/month fee) and spends the required £6k (for the bonus points) in the first month rather than over six months, at what point could they downgrade to a Gold card and keep the points ?
I presume after the points have posted (roughly how long does that take ?) OR is there a clawback rule if you don’t hold it for x amount of time ?
Cheers.

Did you manage to downgrade?
I would appreciate members help – I have just gained my 241. Once I have this in my BA account, I am okay to either downgrade or cancel the card yes?
