For info, a reader informed me that the ‘double points’ for spending with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays is not posting correctly.

This is the response he got:

“We’ve checked with the relevant department and they have confirmed there is unfortunately an issue at this time with certain Virgin Atlantic purchases where the double miles are not awarded, this is being worked on and when rectified the miles will be awarded. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Worth a quick check to see if you impacted.

Good to know. I noticed this on a recent purchase the other day was planning to follow up.

Incredible that this is still ongoing, I flagged this in the daily chat thread back in November. I called customer services after receiving my first statement to find a Virgin Atlantic flight had not received double points.
I was fobbed off and told it was an issue and would be fixed. I decided to submit a complaint as it was a brand new card, and one of the core reasons I opened the card.
After 4 weeks I received a letter saying my complaint was being reviewed and I would receive a response within 4 weeks.
After 8 weeks I received a letter stating 8 weeks had passed since my complaint, they were experiencing delays, and expect a response within a further 4 weeks – and included a FOS leaflet and stated I could now take it to the Ombudsman if I wanted.
It has now been almost a further 4 weeks and I’ve heard nothing further. I tried to chase up but was kept on hold for 20 minutes and gave up.
Tempted to escalate it to FOS just out of spite due to their incompetence…

I spotted this on my statement too just now, but assumed it was because my payment was in respect of taxes only for a reward flight on Delta, booked via Virgin using Virgin points. However, my statement definitely mentions that I paid ‘Virgin Atlantic’, so surely I should have got the higher points rate on that basis alone?

Now duly posted as bonus points on my latest statement, so I did get the 3x points eventually.

Be warned. I have just fallen foul of this issue today. No double miles posted and Virgin Money agent told me I wasn’t entitled to the points. I have read him back the terms and conditions stating double points, but all I got was “Oh does it”

I have asked them to escalate it up the chain, but let’s see what happens.

Yes longstanding issue. Whilst I’d like to earn 3 points per £1, it’s never tracked properly so i just use Amex Gold for 2 points per £1. Defeatist I know but life is short.

It’s typically Virgin (across the board, Airlines, holidays, banking) get what they can from you and hope you don’t notice the poor service.
