I had emailed IHG a query which is now resolved.
In their reply they included a phone number & warning on charges which were so extortionate I had to check.
The reply “I want to confirm that calling the 01950 499034 – Cost is 10 GBP per minute plus network extras.”
£600/hour 😱
That’s a local rate phone number.
Not sure where you’re getting £10 an hour from.
Thats nonsense, its a standard number which will also be included in any free mins which your mobile plan comes with.
According to google, 01950 is the area code for Sandwick in the Shetland Islands, not the usual offshore call centre location you would expect!
On a similar note, we recently had a physio receptionist send an SMS from a normal 0793* mobile number requesting us to come in for an earlier time. After replying a couple of times, I then saw on my vodafone bill that they were charged at 35p per text as the mobile was registered to the channel islands…
And I’m not sure how many minutes you think are in an hour but if it were 10p a minute that’s £6 an hour, not £600 and hour.
