Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Do I keep my current spend record

  • 2 posts

I had an old Barclaycard and changed it to the free Avios card as this was the only option available at the time. I have made some transactions already and the ticker has recorded these on my journey to 20k for the upgrade voucher. However today I have seen the option of changing this to the paid Avios card and have done this as it makes more sense with the higher Avios reward and the lower upgrade voucher target. Does anyone know if I will have to start again for the 10k target or will it port over the spend I have already made to go towards the 10k target.

    Many thanks

    Dan

    The spend restarts.

Upon a product transfer you will have £0 spent so will need £10k to reach the spend threshold.

We have 2 of these vouchers and no way to actually use them so they seem kind of pointless though…

For anyone that had the Lloyds Avios cards this will sound familiar. Unless one had enough Avios to book outright one of the legs in the desired class and the more expensive leg in the class below to then use the voucher to upgrade, the only time I really made the most of it is when I had indeed to vouchers on my account and they announced the closure of the Lloyds cards so Avios allowed for the first time to use two vouchers on the same booking.

I got one of this voucher from Barclays Premier current account but also to BAPP 2-4-1 right now, so I may use the Barclays’s one on one of my frequent Euro trip back home.

They price off the £1 + lots of Avios option for Short haul trips when using the upgrade voucher which makes it pointless for such usage…
