Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Do I earn Tier Points (not Avios) on Iberia if I fly LATAM?

    Can someone help? I am not able to find a definitive answer even after asking Iberia customer service. I know LATAM left OWE. However on Iberia’s website, LATAM is still listed as a partner airline until then end of 2025. It also explicitly says that you earn Avios to Iberia Frequent Flyer with LATAM. It has no mention of Tier points (for status) however.

    Can someone help? If I were to fly Business on LATAM but used my Iberia frequent flier number (credited the flight to Iberia), would I earn Tier points? Also, does it make a difference with respect to earning Tier points if ;

    1) Flight sold by LATAM and operated by LATAM
    2) sold by Iberia (code), operated by LATAM
    3) sold by LATAM (code), operated by Iberia?

    Thank you!

    Use this. https://miles.travel-dealz.com/en

    You firstly need to know which Latam, then you need your ticket class. Drill down and it’ll tell you.

    I got screwed by Avaianca selling me a £600 business class ticket where the class earned no miles or TP even on Avianca.

    Once you click the airline and booking class. The Qualifying Miles tab shows you TP where applicable for a programme, most airlines call them qualifying miles

    Answer to 1) is No and pretty sure that also applies to 2) and 3) as well, though an extensive trawl of Flyertalk suggested it wasn’t a definite no. I did a lot of reading on this for my LATAM flights in W this summer.

    I will be crediting mine to Virgin Atlantic to get qualifying miles and redeemable miles. My flights will get me halfway to Silver with VA plus the redeemable miles which, as I have a bit of a Virgin points balance already from Clubcard points and Virgin Train app ticket purchases, works for me.

    Only other options for status were Alaska, Delta or JAL none of which really work for me. Of course you can credit to a bunch of others but not for status, just redeemable miles
