Diamond Upgrades – USA

I attained Diamond status in November and to date have been upgraded at every stay since…
Hilton Northampton
Hilton Euston
Hilton LHR T5
Doubletree Manchester
Doubletree Stoke
Hilton Nicosia

I will be holidaying in the States and would like to get some knowledge on their upgrading. Are they as forthcoming as Europe? I was told that Gold/Diamond status is two a penny over there because spending a couple of dollars on the Hiton Amex card gets you there.(true?)

Any experiences will be appreciated.

It depends on the hotel and it’s always worth sending a polite email enquiring what they do for Diamonds. Many will give lounge access which can be useful if you want to have breakfast at the hotel but the miserly “resort credit” doesn’t cover it!

As you say Diamonds are ten a penny in the US so keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed.

Of course depends when and where you are staying.
