Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Destinations similar to Dubai?

    Hello.
Need to go somewhere for 5 – 7 nights in Feb half term 2023.
Criteria: needs to be under 10 hours non-stop flight; very warm (in February); reasonably modern; reasonable beach; good f&b options; BA fly there.
Dubai seems to tick all the boxes but I don’t want to go to Dubai yet again.
I’m supposed to be doing Abu Dhabi next month (will probably cancel).

    1. I’m wondering if Bahrain or Qatar are suitable alternatives? if so, how do they compare with Dubai, given the above criteria?
    2. Is there anywhere else that would be suitable? I think India and Kenya are within range but not sure about beaches.

    Thanks.

    Oman maybe.

    Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles.
Closer to Dubai, RAK has a few options.

Qatar compares, in all the mentioned criteria, plus is just as plastic/fake.

Oman on the other hand meets all the mentioned criteria without losing some sense of culture. Probably cooler than Dubai, so worth checking temperatures (never been in Feb).

Personally I prefer Oman, but I understand those who want the ease of a Dubai/Doha style destination. I think Oman ticks that plus having some authenticity to it. Probably less reward flight availability.

BA don’t fly to Muscat any more, unfortunately.

For under 10 hours, the Caribbean would probably fit the bill for a hot weather break in February – I would think Maldives and Seychelles would be over 10 hors?
9 hours will get you to most Caribbean islands, e.g. Barbados.

Good shout, also add Miami to that list for <10 hrs.

Probably just a bit further, but on the plus side an overnight flight with very little time difference: South Africa!

Crime levels very different to Dubai 😉

Thanks but 9 to 10 hours is my limit on this occasion.
Looking further into Bahrain and Qatar.
Will keep the Caribbean and Miami in mind too.

    Jordan.

A few days at the Dead Sea, then Aqaba.

Add Wadi Rum and/or Petra if you need more culture.

BA fly to Amman, but on crap A320s. Royal Jordanian use nice 787s, and are also in OneWorld so you can redeem/earn Avios.
