Hi – Im trying to get 2 CX business seats to HKG in may one way from LHR … looks like CX have dumped some availability around my dates overnight however how do I know if they have released any reward seats in business seats or not , not sure if they have been picked up quick or none have been released
any way of finding out .. as an example yesterday afternoon BA was only showing 2 CX flights for the 1 may with reward seats , now lots more flights have opened up in economy and premium but no seats in business
advice please
They sometimes release different availability to partners, so I assume you have read that there has been an availability dump but that might just be for Cathay passengers.
If there’s nothing showing on BA.com then really you’re out of luck. You could look at trying a partner program where you can transfer miles over (Qatar, Iberia etc) but you might be fighting a losing battle here.
Hello – thanks for help. I meant that CX had released more flight and seats to BA overnight , however I don’t know whether they have released any business seats to BA or I was too late and they have already been booked
Is there anyway I can find out.
BA yesterday for my dates only had availability on 2 CX flights with reward seats in economy and premium
Today on BA website they have 4 flights showing all with availability in economy and premium for reward seats but no business – am I to late to the party or
Am confused as I’m not sure why you think that Cathay released business class seats and they have now gone. It’s just as likely that they only ever added Y and Y+ seats.
Cathay are under no obligation to release any seats at all to BA, but if there’s no availability today, that’s not to say they won’t add any in due course. And I’m not sure how it would help even if you could “find out” if someone did beat you to the seats.
Cathay do however have business class available out of Manchester that day.
So you might want to either book the J seats out of MAN or the Y+ seats out of LON then keep watching and if something better comes up, change for £35.
Thanks for replying – we have QR flights booked currently out of LGW , business to Doha and then First to HKG , last few times we have done this trip (2 hour connection) on cash tickets in economy booked via BA on QR metal , the flights from LgW have been late out and then miss connected so been stuck in Doha for a while , just concerned that we might be unlucky again so would prefer to fly direct ideally in business
Why is the heading of ths thread typed in block capitals.
I am not seeing anything particularly urgent or earth -shattering about the topic.
You wouldnt be able to find out if they released J tickets and for you to be made aware hours later.
Sorry for the capitals LL was a mistake , not sure the comment was needed
Pherhaps register their own program and check availability there to see if anything is released.
For destinations like LHR, Cathay will reserve the last 2 business class seats for it’s own program.
For example, if there are 3 seats available for it’s own program, only 1 will be be available to partners.
Ive seen this come up a few times and obviously CX new suites are a desirable item if you can book em.
Is there a way to get your avios transitioned to CX points , indirectly via Qatar or Maroc or some other OneWorld points/avios base?
Possibly a route thru AMEX points even.
Or a Link to thread on this as it mustve been asked before – and might help OP?

You can’t confer avios to CX Asia Miles, there’s probably some weird way of doing it through multiple conversions but would destroy the value of your points. You can transfer AMEX MR points to Asia Miles which is the currency of CX’s award program
