A positive data point to share (hopefully with some lessons learned). My basically brand new iPhone 14 Pro got stolen in May, AXA just paid me the full £1450 (the max allowed with the £50 excess) today. It took awhile because of the following:
-If you’re a long time Curve user and still have your initial AXA email, that policy number is no longer valid. When the benefits changed ~1.5 years ago, you were issued a new policy number that you can find in your Curve app. If you quote the old policy number, AXA will see it as invalid and contact Curve, who will likely ghost AXA for a few weeks. AXA won’t proactively contact you about it.
-If your device is stolen, you’ll get a call from a third party investigator, and however long that takes depends on how thorough they are..
-Calling in every 1.5 weeks for updates is very helpful. A few times my claim was in administrative limbo and agents were able to manually push through what needed to happen.
-When you call an agent and they email you a form link, this creates a new incident number. It’s not tied to your actual claim. Can’t confirm nor deny I emailed information quoting this incident number..
The phone agents I spoke to were for the most part extremely helpful and the process was straightforward enough, if not a little lengthy. Being proactive helped tremendously for me!
Thought I would share a positive experience with Curve Metal travel insurance.
Successfully claimed for medical expenses incurred after a car crash in Kakheti, Georgia. Sent in receipts from hospital, was told I would also need to provide a police report which I did not have but in the end this was not an issue. Settlement letter received five weeks later.
And it didn’t matter that all documents I supplied were in Georgian.
