I have just upgraded to metal and am reading through the insurance documents. I cannot work out if I am supposed to give Curve my mobile phone and/or travel details in order to be insured.
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
No, I believe you need to have bought the phone after purchasing the Metal card
In addition check the T&Cs it may say that you have to be abroad in order to successfully claim and have lost your curve card alsoWow – I cannot see any reference to this. I am not insured for my current phone? Thank you for responding.

I’m not sure if @Carlos is being facetious or doesn’t have a scooby, but none of the three statements he makes is correct. I would suggest you search ‘Curve’ on the HfP site (not these forums) and read @Rob’s experience of claiming on Curve Metal for his stolen ‘phone and of course read the policy itself.
@JDB that is good advice, thank you – the opening response did seem rather odd.
I made a claim via Curve for a dropped phone (broken screen) last month and it paid out a few weeks ago.
There was some confusion initially when the CSA referred me to an online form (AXA) which asked me for various travel details and proof of such, which I found confusing as I’d dropped the phone at home!
Turns out when I called back and got a different CSA he told me I was misinformed and wrongly directed to a travel claim, when the phone was actually covered on a separate Gadget Policy.
No need to register or pay for anything with the Curve card, they are standard Travel and Gadget policies.
Phone had a £50 excess btw. That is fabulous info @bungalow – thank you so much.
Not sure when OP upgraded but I got an email on Monday saying the insurance is changing from Sep 23. “Headlines” as follows:
Mobile coverage increasing from £800 to 1500.
Travel coverage reducing: curtailment and cancellation down to 5000, I believe for the whole family not pp. Baggage to 750.
New ticket cancellation insurance.
New extended warranty on ‘eligible electricals’.
Not sure if this information has been updated in the app and more detail is available yet, but people thinking about metal might be interested to know changed are afoot.More details are available in the full policy, which was linked in the email.

IPIDs: https://res.cloudinary.com/dzatxn6bx/image/upload/v1650883481/insurance/Curve_UK_IPID_P3.pdfThanks. On holiday at the moment so future changes to insurance docs weren’t top priority when their email came through…
No need to register specific trips, they’ve just paid out a £2.8k claim for a canceled trip (due to a positive covid diagnosis) for me dating back to May
1 quick call, receipts sent in and 8 weeks later payment was agreed
In case you haven’t seen it, here is the article JDB was referring to.

Before I go on an call Axa, can someone confirm I don’t need to pay a rental car with Curve for the insurance from Curve to apply?

Don’t see anything on the insurance documents saying it needs to be paid by Curve.I believe you do need to pay with the Curve card, although that can be problematic for any ‘hold’ payment.
“Will my car rental be covered? (Metal customers only)
Your booking must be paid in full using your covered card. You are covered up to a maximum of 31 days and must be on a valid trip under your terms and conditions. You can also view them within the Curve App.”Also specified in the full terms at Section N
THank you JDB.
This is interesting. The terms that I was sent via email when they updated coverage do not say that, payment on the covered card is only mentioned as part of the ticket insurance. The link that I posted above does have that exact text.

A positive Curve Metal insurance experience – claimed on ‘gadget’ section (previously was just telephone cover, like many policies) for a dropped iPad with smashed screen replaced by Apple for £450. Call to Axa answered almost immediately, claim form sent straight after the call and now settled in full, without excess, inside two weeks.

That’s an excellent result. Was the accident at home or abroad?

At home – somebody dropped my iPad; supposedly my fault.

Hi, where did you see this “gadget” section? All the docs in my Curve Metal app mention only mobile phones. I dropped my Apple Watch screen a couple weeks ago and the screen is smashed, so this would be ideal!

It’s in the current Metal terms at Section L

You should also have an email from Curve which will show your policy number.

Thank you. I think that might be an old doc – it’s got the £800 limit which applied before September 2022. The doc my app leads me to has “Mobile Phone Cover” in section L unfortunately.
@mynameisjonny – that link above is the current document on Curve’s website for cards issued prior to 24 February 2020 and the one I relied upon in making my claim two weeks ago as I have held Metal since inception. When the limit was increased from £800 to £1500, it was still for mobiles only, not gadgets and that appears to remain the case for cards issued after 24 February 2020.
