Just wondered if anyone has had Brighton payments go through recently, seems they are blocked when I have tried the past week with Curve Metal and Fronted, they go through on Curve but then refunded a few days later
I’ve noticed that Amex have recently tightened up on payment cards that can be used…maybe Curve Metal has been added to their rejection list.
Failed to pay Virgin today. If that’s the case metal is worthless.
Still fine for me so please don’t be ringing Brighton and remonstrating!
Paid both Virgin and Amex this week fine.

OMG, I think you are right. I just had the same problem that cannot use Curve to pay the AE bills and cannot add the curve metal neither
Today could be issue with maintenance but otherwise worked fine few days ago.
Just paid P2’s BAPP with my saved metal card without any issue
I had an issue last month, but turns out I had a lower daily limit on the Curve card than what the Amex bill was. Paid half one day, half the next, and all fine.
Just paid my BAPP with CM backed with the same card I’ve used for months
Tried several times and also tried on my partner’s AE. All are not working. It seems AE start to block Curve..
Worked fine for me this morning using metal backed by Mastercard.
I’ve had the occasional failure in the past and can only put it down to our internet connection sometimes being poor and not being able to confirm in the Curve app. Trying again later or asking for a code via text usually sorts it out.
I called Amex and they said they have tighten up their payment card requirements. So that’s why they are starting blocking Curve and with this curve updated subscription fee and 3k Fronted. Curve is coming to the end.
Works fine for me. Makes no sense to block for some and not others. Surely just a blanket ban. Does it cost Amex anything if users are paying off the balance with curve (if those users paid in full via direct debit if curve wasn’t an option)?
It’s nothing to do with costing Amex anything, it’s what they see an irresponsible financial practices (potentially paying off one credit card with another one). What’s for certain is that the more attention is drawn to it, the sooner it’ll end for everyone.
I called Amex and they said they have tighten up their payment card requirements.
Sorry to be rude, but you’re an idiot!!
I was hoping a carefully-chosen emoji might suffice 😂

If you were me, you would do the same. Given the main purpose of paying 14.99£ per month is for the Fronted service.
It is just happen to me. And Amex is clearly aware of many people are using this method.

Guess what? I wouldn’t!
Just because you’re paying Curve £14.99 a month doesn’t give you the God given right to pay off credit cards with other credit cards. Whatever financial arrangement you have with Curve it has absolutely nothing to do with Amex and you drawing Amex’s attention to what your doing just ruins it for everyone else.

Good though that just in case they weren’t aware, you contacted them to make good and sure that they now are.
It’s like those on a certain warm deals site who would phone up a business about a miss-priced item on their website, to make sure that they would honour an order for it. The lack of awareness is just staggering.
It’s the same lack of awareness about Curve not actually having an agreement of any kind with any credit cards. You pays your money (£14.99 pm, in this case), and you takes your chances, as the old saying goes.
Calling Amex is of course idiotic.
But the chances that the customer rep did know about any of this (they probably were just talking about the requirement for the money to come from an account in your name) or that if they didn’t that the information would get passed upstairs is pretty slim.
