Now that Curve has pretty much destroyed its value prop, does anyone else here know of any alternatives that give you similar functionality? I was on the Metal tier, so I don’t mind paying if it’s good value. Guessing there must be a FinTech trying to do something similar.
Key things I used from Curve:
– Fronted – Got through the £10k/month every month
– Great FX on non-UK spend that billed to my underling card in GBP
– Car Hire excess insurance
– Go back in time was nice for work expenses billed to my personal card by mistake, but I can just learn to be better!None directly comparible that I am aware of, which might confirm its not a profitable space, hence why Curve need to bang up fees and reduce benefits.
Having now reviewed what is to be gained for me from Curve metal on the new higher fee and reduced benefits, by using free fronted to its limit and the Avios benefit from the underlying card for foreign currency spend, it comes down to much effort (keeping track of rolling months etc) for no longer a worthwhile reward.
For me, I don’t place any value on lounge access or the insurance cover. It just duplicates at a reduced benefit level what I have elsewhere.

The model didn’t work then, it doesn’t work now.

Doubt that can happen. they might reduce losses with the new limits, but will customers continue to pay for metal to offset even their fixed costs?
Is there any other option akin to curve fronted where i can pay off my amex balance with another credit card (behind curve)? This was the only value for me, would be keen to hear if there are alternatives.
