Amex have randomly given me a £75 ‘credit for membership fee’, any ideas why this might be? I’ve not had any communication from them so it’s out of the blue. I’m not going to raise it with them in case they take it back!

Yup same here… I came on to ask the exact same question 🙂
It’s possibly a pro active refund from Amex, at one point the advertised fee was £625, whilst the T+Cs at sign up was £550. I mentioned this before, but was chased out of town by the local Amex militia on this site.
