Apologies for being too lazy to read the T&Cs.
When my car goes in for some work or a service I’m given a courtesy car that has a £500 excess for any damage I might do. There is no cost for this courtesy car so my Amex Plat card isn’t used but do I still get the benefit of the excess cover?
Thanks
Not paying anything is not an issue because you don’t need to use Plat for the car rental insurance anyway.
The question is whether this is a ‘car rental’ in the sense of the world than Amex means. After all, if you borrow my car for two weeks is that a ‘car rental’?
Would the same debate on ZipCar be relevant? I remember it was discussed here long
Got a vague feeling your own car insurance may cover substitute cars during insured car repair but poss 3rd party only.
£500 excess says to me that’s on a policy held by the garage.
Given likely impact of even a £500 claim on anyone’s insurance, on future premiums though, I suspect no one’s going to make any claim anywhere.
