Hey HFP.
I run two limited companies
1 called NiceMeaty Services Limited, The other NiceMeaty Limited.
NiceMeaty services buys stock and other resources from NiceMeaty Limited.
NiceMeaty Services has a COT card, NiceMeaty Limited was rejected due to it being too similar and having the same directors.
Services pays NiceMeaty weekly once jobs are completed by BACS.
Do you think COT would be pissy if I started putting those payments on my COT, given the similar name, just to farm the avios?
Anyone doing something similar?
Nobody can really give you a definitive answer on this other than CoT who you wouldn’t wish to ask as they have made their position clear.
The other issue is that assuming there are advantages to you in structuring/operating your business in this way, blurring the lines by having the wrong entity’s charges on your CoT statement might be unhelpful or carry some risk.
The second card likely got rejected because I believe the liability for the debt falls on you as an individual and not the company. Hence CoT are unlikely to issue you with more than ‘main’ one card. Proper company cards where the liability sits with the company have vigorous application process and are becoming less attainable, often referred to as corporate cards.
You will likely be OK with your revised strategy. Obviously if you ask them, it’s likely against their terms, but in reality as long as you pay it would stay under the radar.
