I want to cancel an upcoming BA Flight (Avios booking) in the next few days. Any tips for how to get through to CS to cancel as it’s still only possible to request a FTV online and I want my Avios & 241 back as normal.
All the options in the call centre are either just automatically cutting me off, or join a very long hold wait (that risks cutting off at 1hr). I’ve tried DM’ing them on Twitter. Any other tips, or is there a correct pattern of buttons to push on the phone to get through to someone that knows what they are doing? It’s all such a mess.
Should be able to do this on live chat, otherwise I find v early (8am) or evening best for calling
Is there a best number to try ? Lowly blue member.
What you can do is to call the number you have and listen what time they open. You can try to call the number about 2 min earlier and play with the menu system until you need to press the last item at exactly the time it was specified in the out of hours message. In my experience the menu plus message playing takes about 2 min hence my recommendation. This not always work with all the numbers but you can try and play around.
I use 0800 123111 and always get through but it took 45 mins on Tuesday.
Where do you find live Chat on the BA site? Will be over seas so don’t want to be on hold for a long time.

It’s on the bottom right of the website, not sure how to get it to appear if on a mobile device though.
Be warned that it’s not live chat at first, it’s a chat bot that you need to keep requesting a real person. Only once you’re close to giving up, do you then get rewarded with the privilege of joining a queue
That’s interesting. I just assumed it was a useless chat bot that wouldn’t ever answer my question. Will see if can get through to a human through that route.
Tried again this morning. 0344 493 0747. Called at 7.31am (1 minute after opening). First time pressed 1 (Change a Booking), then 1 (Flight Only). Immediately told too many people calling and got cut off. Tried a second time and did nothing and ignored all the prompts. Got through to someone quickly within 5 minutes, but they were not the Exec Club team so transferred me – put in a queue. And then an hour later got cut off. Useless.
Does anyone know which numbers on the phone maze will get you through to Exec Club for the best shot? I’m just a lowly Blue.
Why can we still not cancel Avios flights online after all this time. It’s ridiculous.
Chris, I got through to BA on +442079493086 in about 30 mins this morning

I got through on this number in 45 minutes yesterday evening. I think it’s probably just luck but I do always seem to get through on that number vs the Bronze line!

Thanks both, will give this number a shot first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully have a bit more luck! 🙂
Just to follow up. Got through on Live Chat in the end and they managed to process the cancellation and Avios refund.
Had no idea BA even had a live chat facility. You need to get past the chatbot on the Help pages by typing ‘speak to an agent’ a couple of times, and if you are lucky (and they are not overloaded) you get put in a queue that moves reasonably fast. Would recommend that approach if struggling on the phone. Probably easier to get through at the start of the day I would imagine.
Anyone know the email address for directly contacting BA Holidays ?
There’s been four F seats on two separate days to YVR in July ever since they rejigged the route to use an A380. Since I got the Seatspy alert I’ve been on hold for a cumulative eight hours or so getting cut off at the single hour mark every time, having tried numerous different call centres at all hours of the day. After trying the US call centre at exactly 7.30AM EST now I watched the last two available seats disappear before me in the blink of an eye.
It’s been almost two years since the pandemic and their staffing levels are still anaemic, and changing an Avios booking should really be something you could do online.
Bit miffed, but what can you do, really?
