Anybody else collecting Avios from Uber rail and taxi trips? Ever since the scheme started it’s been an absolute nightmare in getting the Avíos that are due. Invariably, no matter what I spend, I am always given 1 Avios instead of the 12 or 13 that are due. I then raise this with Uber customer service who invariably argue that I have been given the correct amount. After about three or four exchanges like this they then accept they are wrong and the missing Avios points are credited to my BAEC account. However, after recently agreeing they owe me Avios points from 11/01/2024 and promising they will be in my account within 5 days, they have not only done nothing but are now apparently refusing to acknowledge my emails including today’s regarding a rail ticket I have just purchased. This is an appalling service and as soon as the 10% discount on rail trips ends next month, I’m off.
Sorry to hear that. Mine have been working just fine though as a data point.

Same here, it’s been extremely efficient.
No issues here, I buy tickets 2-3 times a week and the Avios are credited before I pick up the tickets. I have built up quite a healthy pot of cashback in my Uber account that I use on Uber Eats that you cant earn Avios on.
It feels like an evergreen promo – it was end of September, then November now February. How are they making any money on this, when other sites like Trainline charge for bookings. It’s a shame as I want to support my local station ticket office, but its so much better for me to book via Uber!

Because Trainline are absolutely shameless. All sellers are paid commission – it varies, but can be up to 12% per ticket. There is a cost to the seller depending on the ticket pick-up method, but it’s fairly negligible. So the the fact Trainline adds a service fee and, in the past, used to also charge a credit card fee, just really underlines you should not be using them.
But then their marketing is good and the website pretty…
I also have benefited from this. Avios are posted for taxi rides the same day, and train tickets post a day later max. Done pretty well considering I just booked Eurostar on Uber for a princely sum which has already given the Avios and will also give 10% back in credit. The credit perk is coming to an end in a month’s time though….
I should say there does appear to be a slight disconnect between Uber and BA. I’ve had a couple of Uber rides that I was charged more than I was originally quoted for, but thanks to Uber’s automated route/fare recalculation, the price was then adjusted downwards. Uber awarded Avios based on the originally inflated price and at no point has it clawed it back…
Note that Trainline is very good for showing split ticketing options by default so worth checking – but feel to go off and make the final booking elsewhere.
Hello
I’m just bumping this back to the top so @KenC can see it.
This is an appalling service and as soon as the 10% discount on rail trips ends next month, I’m off.
If you were that appaulled then surely you’d take your business away now and not when the promo ends!
Works fine for me, posts instantly to my BA account.
I save up the 10% Uber cash as well, meant that my return train fare For my first office trip from Glasgow to Edinburgh only cost me about £4.50 instead of the £17.70 it usually costs.
One thing to watch is that if you part pay with Uber Credits the Avios seems to be credited against the Uber Credits value. So a £10 taxi paid with £2 of Uber Credits and £8 on your credit card only earns 2 Avios not 10 (or even 8)

Yep, noticed that today as well
That hasn’t been my experience of booking train tickets. I’ve still earned 1 Avios per £1 spent (so I still got 4 Avios for my train ticket a couple of weeks ago.)
I also earned Uber cash on the full value of the ticket, not the cash element, so I earned £1.77 back despite only paying £4 or so.

But why would I want to take my business away in respect of a tiny shortfall of Avios when the 10% cash back on rail journeys is working perfectly fine?
A little late to the party here, am I correct that you now don’t see the Uber credit until 60 days after the train journey and the credit can only be used on Uber taxis?

Beware with Trainline split ticketing where reservations are available – they can & do reserve you a different seat for each split. Not every time but it does happen frequently, so beware.
