Need to book a reward flight from LHR to California with BA, and obviously have a wide choice of times and therefore planes to choose from.
We’re on a loose schedule, so my instinct is to book the A380 into SFO, for no other reason than my other half hasn’t been in an A380 before.
I might have this all completely wrong (please correct me if so!), but reading up, it seems there are no plans to upgrade the A380 fleet to the new BA Club Suite product?
So my question is, would our overall A380 experience in “Old” Club, not outweigh the opportunity to experience the “new” Club Suite product on another aircraft/flight?
Only flown twice with BA in Club World on the A380. We loved it, as the cabin was half full, so each us used a middle seat to sleep. Very private and no climbing over anyone.
Upstairs on the A380 is very quiet – quieter than downstairs in F. The window seats have a good amount of storage.
If you have status and get free seat selection, why not try the A380 on the way out, and Club Suite on the way back?
Downside is some Club World seats are terrible. The Aisle seats are very exposed with no privacy. Most seats involve climbing over someone or having someone climb over you. I always used to pay to reserve a seat in Club World to get one of the few decent ones.
Club Suite is brilliant. All seats are good. No need to pay £100 or more to reserve a particular seat.

Adequate is probably a better world. Still miles behind the Middle Eastern carriers.

Etihad use the same seat albeit in a fancier finish with more gloss etc. Service no doubt varies but I don’t know any ME carrier that operate LHR-LAX?
Club Suite is a huge improvement but, as ever, BA doesn’t bother with cleaning or seat maintenance.
On a flight last month, the wall of my seat had a big dent and dark footprint around it and the fabric of the seat had partly come off the frame. When my wife opened up her bed, there was just so much detritus – a small tube of prescription ointment, lip salve from the kit, an ear plug, a metal bead, dried ? cheese, biscuit pieces and enough crumbs to reconstitute a slice of bread. She sent a couple of photos and inventory to Sean Doyle asking whether he would mind finding all that in his bed; funnily enough he hasn’t replied.
While people need to treat the new seats/suites with more respect, BA, for its part, needs to look after them or they will soon be quite unpleasant.
