Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Clarification on Virgin flexible booking policy of cash ticket

  • 140 posts

The Virgin flexible ticket policy t and c’s says that I can change dates as many times as I need to, however it also says “You’ll just need to make sure your new travel dates take place by 31st December 2023, and that any changes are made before your original departure date (four weeks before your Virgin Holidays package holiday).”
Does this mean that if my booking for a standard cash ticket is for departure March 30th 2022 and I change that to Nov 4th 2022 departure, (hypothetically), that I then can’t make any further date changes to that ticket (that is then booked for Nov 4th) once the original March 30th date has passed?

I have asked Virgin to clarify on Twitter, but they basically just re-churned the text that I already had.

    Thanks in advance

Strictly speaking, that’s what the words mean.

I don’t think that’s the case, though. I think once you’ve made your change your new ticket will also be changeable. If the words are strictly applied , you’d be better off booking a long way out into the future, waiting 24 hours then changing to the nearer date you actually think you want, whilst maintaining flex to the old future date. I don’t think there’s any chance the Virgin booking system has that logic built in.
