Does anyone know what the cheapest option for a US sim would be that can be bought in the US from a store? Its needed to receive like 1 call/text (has to be a US number) so call allowance etc doesnt matter.

If it’s a short call then just roam your normal UK sim and it’ll cost you a couple of quid depending on your network. Incoming txts are free. Unless you absolutely need a US number for it.
Anything you buy as a prepay/pay as you go wil cost a min of $20-30.
