@Gordon, I’ve even been topping up my tan for the past few days here in the usually grey north! Hope all the works have generated lots of avios/other points. You’ll definitely deserve a break of your choosing after that!

Yes the weather has been very pleasant the last week,
Always thinking of a points angle, HaHa, As many points as I can, as some companies are still not keen on Amex, so I’ve had to relinquish the half avios on the BAPP and use the Barclaycard instead on some works, so not all is lost.

Yes I am hoping to still tour SEA end of this year or start of 2026, I’ve left it a little late for J redemption flights, so might have to slum it in PE.

But I am flexible so I can fly into anywhere in SEA to start the trip, so not all is lost.

Check QR. We found flights showing on QR rewards, when the same flights didn’t appear on BA. Outward we went LHR-DOH-HAN, Inbound PNH-(SGN)-DOH-LGW. You don’t actually leave the plane at SGN.

Morning from Hotel Indigo Nashville for a week in music city. Upgraded from standard room to junior suite on checked thanks to a hotel IT glitch last month which they’ve remedied for us in fine fashion. A week of music beckons.

It’s going to be a canny week.

Curious to know if the general public have any thoughts about what’s going on in the markets at all.
More importantly hope you get out before shortages hit the retailers.

@Rob Does https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/03/24/how-many-tier-points-does-each-british-airways-flight-earn/ need an update to reference that it’s now, mostly, historic?

This time I did it on the phone, and maybe just got lucky with the agent. The competeting rate was on ‘stayforless’.com, which I’d never heard of and was sure to be on their list of no-go sites for comparison, but she accepted it. I also expected to have a problem as the 3rd party rate was stated ‘non-refundable’, whereas the Hilton rate was ‘semi-flex’ but passed the cancellation window (so non-refundable too, but I expected enough of a reason for them to reject). But no, she did’t even mention that at all.

You got lucky, 99.9% of agents will reject if the rate types don’t match.

@elguiri We are staying in Bellagio, I’ll look for that style of gelato though.

Menaggio’s worth a stop, lovely promenade and views over the lake.

I hiked from Menaggio to Lenno last year (wouldn’t recommend it, there’s a a few bits with no footpath) but if you want to see Villa del Balbianello then you need to book tickets in advance and it’ll take 2 hours out of your day. Lenno is a cute little town. Bellagio will take it out of you, it’s all hills and steps.

Be aware supermarkets and other stuff tends to close in the afternoon.

I also got denied boarding due to a ticketing mixup and will now need to claim ORC.

Flying direct LAX-LHR now rather than LAX-JFK-LHR.

How difficult can it be to ensure that paid for tickets are “correctly ticketed” ?

    @Roberto, that’s a result though. Surely?!

    Well , yes and no.

I will have to claim ORC. This is a 2024 booked trip under the old rules that was reticketed today so there might be push back on how many I am due. The trip was a TP run so that’s the main driver

However I also arrive into our final destination 4 hours late so entitled to eu261.. which is nice

Morning all – I’m heading LHR-TPE on CI this week in PE, clutching my freshly minted (status matched) Miles&More Gold Card.

I’ve read elsewhere CI uses the CX lounge in T3, can anyone confirm that this is still the case and whether I will get access as a SkyTeam status holder?

Don’t know about lounges, but we are travelling to TPE via Hong Kong, leaving next Wednesday. Please report on any good tips for Taipei. I think OH ended up booking the W Hotel, as there was a mega discounted rate on a few months ago.

After TPE we will be travelling in to the interior of Taiwan, tea plantations etc. Can’t wait.

The Beitou hot springs / night market makes a great easy side trip by metro!

Can second the hot springs, based on my last trip. We went to one on the mountains overlooking the city. An obvious one, but the National Palace on my list for this time around.

Interior is great too, try and drive up into the mountains if you can (mountain roads not for the feint hearted), as well as the coast around Hualien – assuming that is accessible again following the earthquake!
