@davefl. No. Didn’t get any free bottles of wine at HIX (sad face). I arrived at a very busy time – just after Eid so there were a lot of tourists from UAE, Pakistan, Kuwait, Kazakhstan etc so hotel was full. Did get free drinks, points and room upgrade. The 2 guys named Luka on Reception were really great and position of hotel so close to metro was ideal, although I walked everywhere. The tour company I used for trips (via Viator) was just the other side of the metro at Avlabari, which was ideal and would recommend too. For anyone who loves red wine, the free wine tastings everywhere were almost too much!

I walked to the Children’s Railway in Yerevan. The remains of the railway station were amazing but sad too. Am I correct in thinking you make items using stained glass? It was sad to see what was left. We live in an Edwardian house in SW London. We found an amazing lady not far from us in Surrey, who was able to restore our stained glass windows and then use them within double glazing – so different what what we were being offered with modern day glass replicas.

Have to say, in my experience I don’t think the driving in Bosnia or Albania was as bad. I have never seen so many accidents – inckuding cars on fire where they had hit Police cars!

Has anybody ever claimed Virgin points off Singapore? Any idea how long it should take? Been over a week since the first flight now unless they credit them all together at the end of the booking?

Took flights late December with return early February. Took a week or so, didn’t kave to wait for the booking to be completed. The TP earnt , combined with a couple of Air NZ flights got us to Virgin Silver.

Cheers. Will give it another week or so then chase them up. Hoping for virgin silver from it also!

    Way off topic…

Electric Garage Doors. Anybody got any products to reccomend or avoid please?

At the risk of further inflaming the subject seeing the other replies

At my previous property I had a Hormann up and over door installed. Very good and never went wrong over the 8 years I lived there.

At my current property I have a Garolla roller door. Chose them because they were a fraction of the price of the Hormann roller product and custom sized – wider than the standard width garage door. Excellent service and UK manufactured although be aware custom sized doors take about 5 weeks to manufacture (my neighbour chose them independently and is currently waiting for delivery)

Not sure if you are aware but the ability to earn Virgin points with Singapore Airlines ends on 23 April after which date no points will be earned (there was an HfP article earlier this year). That might be why the points haven’t credited yet and might be an issue depending on whether you’re mid trip or return post 23 April

Yes I do but not done any in a while, too much travelling over the last year. Got 4 projects to finish before I start new ones. Glad you restored them rather than replace. Funny, I grew up in a house where all the windows were leaded/stained glass (1960s Semi) and they’ve all been ripped out 🙁

The HIX in Tbilisi is the perfect location, I loved that walk through the park into the old town.
