Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Chances of Booking Emirates First With Points?

  • 49 posts

    Hi Folks,

I’m really interested in flying Emirates first from Milan to New York with my wife but I’ve only found availability for 1 seat in first. Do Emirates only release 1 seat for first with points?

If I booked business initially what are the chances of upgrading 2 tickets to first nearer the date of departure? Is Emirates Business good enough to make that booking with the risk of not be able to secure an upgrade to first?

I’ve never flown Emirates but would like to try it out and the need to position in Milan is no bother to me especially considering the cost of taxes now on BA out of LHR. Any experience you could share with me would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Emirates usually releases F tickets very close to departure dates, like 3 days before.

For couples the window pair seats should be fine in J.I am not a massive on Emirates J or F seats/cabins, for that matter (even the new one), it’s too nouveau riche for my taste. The service and the food though makes up for it. I also wouldn’t bother with F unless it’s the new 777 plane or A380.

My experience is that auto-upgrade doesn’t work and if you don’t spot the seats becoming available you’ll miss out. Last time I flew there was no F upgrade space till after I had checked in onlibe 24hrs before departure. During check in, no indication of it. Waited 3 mins, having checked in for J, and suddenly F upgrade availability was showing. I believe they cater for full F cabins so seem happy to upsell every F seat.

Was the upgrade done via the App?

I’ve used both app and website in the past. For the post-Online check in upgrade, that was on the website.

Thanks for all your feedback folks, its greatly appreciated.

So, to check I understand correctly, would the best route be to book 2 Business class tickets and then a few days out from departure and up until boarding keep an eye peeled for available first tickets to upgrade to?

Would it be worth me ringing Emirates rather then using the website/app to attempt to upgrade do you think?

    Many thanks again
