Forums Other Destination advice Central Paris Amex dining credit brasserie along the lines of Brasserrie Lipp?

Lipp seems to be what I’m looking for as regards “traditional” décor/menu, although the
reviews vary wildly: has anyone been or does anyone have a tried and trusted equivalent
that is on the Amex dining credit list, preferable close-ish to Notre-Dame? Merci b.!

@Michael C – you could look at the Café Marly, a beautiful place in the Louvre arcade which has a splendid interior as well as the great view from the terrace. It’s a rather nice 20-25 minute walk along the river to Notre-Dame. The food is more modern than the big brasseries but very good and you will still get the wonderfully snotty staff, many of whom are wannabe actors/models.

Many of the big brasseries are owned by a chain and just too much on tourist itineraries such that quality has declined whereas prices have gone up.

PS Lipp has been rubbish for some years but it’s one of those emperor wearing no clothes type of places. Brasserie La Lorraine on the Place des Ternes (so not suitably located for ND) remains very good even though not one of the ‘classics’ and there are many similar ones around town.

Thanks so much, @JDB – was actually hoping you’d tune in this morning!
