Hey, I meet the salary criteria for Barclays Premier and also currently hold the Barclaycard Plus Avios card.
Seems like a no brainer to apply for the current account, except I’m very very happy with my existing current account provider.
When this promo launched, I’m sure I read requirement to execute a CASS switch to receive the bonus. (ie your current account needs to close as part of the switch). I can’t seem to find that requirement any longer, don’t know if it’s changed.
Does anyone know:
1) do you have to do a CASS switch and close existing current account
2) if so, could I use an old Halifax Cardcash account (no DDs, no cash, no salary. Would move my salary into new Barclays account for a short while til the bonus posted), thus retaining / not touching my existing current account?Many thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your thoughts.
As per https://www.barclays.co.uk/credit-cards/avios-100k/?WT.mc_id=C011L011N91_Campaign&WT.tsrc=Aggregators&TC=HFP0920009&mpch=ads there’s a 25,000 avios bonus for using CASS. It’s not required to get the 100,000.
The T&Cs for that 25,000 don’t appear to set any conditions on the old account, they just say “To qualify for the 25,000 Avios joining bonus, you’ll need to join Barclays Avios Rewards – within 4 months of opening your first Barclays current account. Then, you’ll need to complete a full switch of your old current account to us, using the Current Account Switch Service – within 3 months of joining Barclays Avios Rewards. You will then receive your joining bonus in the fourth month of Barclays Avios Rewards membership.”
If you’re not using the old halifax account and have no other options you’re willing to use, then you have nothing to lose by trying it.
