I’m one of those who are not being allowed to downgrade after hitting the initial spend on the Avios Plus card. Instead of cancelling and then waiting to reapply, it turns out Player 2 (rejected for Plus during the 50k offer) has now passed an eligibility check for both cards.
The issue is she claims the letter she got at the time stated she couldn’t reapply for 6 months. Barclaycard’s website says 3 months. Is either likely to apply in practice? And if so would it extend to the free card, or would she be free to apply for that? Any help much appreciated
Define “not allowed to downgrade”
It appears that unless it shows up in the app as an option then even customer services can’t downgrade you from the paid Barclaycard to the free one.
