Forums Payment cards Virgin Atlantic Cancelling Reward+ card and impact on points

  • 9 posts

    Hi all,

Like many, I signed up for the Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Card last year and I’m now planning on cancelling as I have switched to the Barclaycard instead.

I have used the accrued Virgin points to book Upper class flights in December this year (just using points, no upgrade voucher). Will cancelling my card have any impact on this flight booking (e.g. BA Amex seems to ask that you still hold the card when you travel on a booking using a 2-4-1 voucher). I presume as I haven’t used any voucher and just the points then I shouldn’t have any issue, but would be great to get people’s thoughts.

    Thanks,

I did the same as you, had the paid card for a year and then cancelled.

I booked my reward flight (with companion voucher) after I had cancelled the card,

    You will be fine.

There’s no relationship between card and virgin atlantic account once the points and vouchers are sent across.

I’ve just used a voucher that was accrued 2 years ago when I had the card and cancelled it. The only issue is keeping track of the voucher and expiry date. DM to Virgin’s twitter account can be helpful if you’re not sure when it expires.
