Was just wondering if anyone more experienced than me would be able to offer some advice – I have just hit the welcome bonus on my BAPP but am not looking to keep the card any longer. I wanted to cancel the card completely for a pro-rata refund rather than try and downgrade to the free card.
Do I need to wait until my 40,000 odd Avios bonus has been transferred to my BAEC account or when I cancel do my points automatically get credited? I am worried that if I cancel before points have transferred, I will forfeit them which I obviously don’t want to happen.
Thanks
Wait till they have been transferred then cancel.

Completely agree… And wait for them to show up in your BAEC account as well.
That being said, I hit my 241 voucher spend in late December just before my renewal with a £5 purchase, and was happy to forfeit those points rather than be charged another year and faff with pro-rata refunds.
Then, randomly, in mid-Feb, 8 points credited to my BAEC (despite T&C saying cancel the card and you forfeit any points not transferred)!
Still, wouldn’t risk trying it with 40k!

Thanks both – how often do the points get transferred? Do I have a wait an entire month or do they just get moved as and when
